868 in Action

One of Troop 868's annual fundraisers is the sale of World's Finest Chocolate bars on the second weekend of September. The Troop partners with our sister unit, Cub Scout Pack 868, to mobilize enough Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and scout parents to cover multiple selling locations in the areas where our member families live and shop. By posting scouts at multiple popular retailers simultaneously, we are able to sell several thousand candy bars in a single weekend.
The weather for this year's fall candy sale was pretty comfortable. Extreme heat makes the chocolate melt, so cooler temperatures are preferred. We only had one selling location where scouts were in direct sun for most of the day and a cooler had to be used to keep the candy from melting.
The scouts all did a really good job of filling all the available work shifts and then showing up when scheduled. We came very close to selling out on Saturday night but ended up having to open one selling location for a couple of hours on Sunday. A sell-out is always good.
