Another way the scouts of Troop 868 serve our community is to support the annual Walk/Run sponsored by the Downs Syndrome Association of Louisville.  The money earned by the event is used to provide support and assistance to individuals in the metro area who have Downs Syndrome --- and there are a lot more of these folks than most people realize.

Scouts help with both setup and take-down.  But their favorite task is wearing the various corporate mascot costumes during the event.  The costumes are big and hot, but the guys really enjoy walking around meeting and hugging the children (of all ages) and posing for hundreds of photos.

Kraig (wearing the Papa John's Pizza Slice costume) puts a bear hug on Nicholas and Toby. Toby and Preston handing out free balloons.
Noah passing out balloons at a different location. Preston poses with the Snoopy.
The alure of one of the fountains at Waterfront Park was just too great for Toby, Kraig, and Nicholas to resist. (L to R) Kraig, Noah, Nicholas, Toby, and Tyler.  Kraig and Toby each managed to get DSL tee shirts.
