KIDSFEST (March 2009)

KIDSFEST is an annual program sponsored by the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce.  The Saturday event is free to the public and attracts primarily an elementary-aged children and their parents.  There is free entertainment and close to a hundred displays and booths promoting various services and activities of interest to families with children.

Troop 868 has been involved in KIDSFEST every year since it started.  Troop members assist the various vendors with Saturday morning setup, pick up litter and empty trash cans throughout the day, and stay around afterward to sweep the floors and carry out the trash.

The troop also operates an information booth about the Scouting programs offered by Troop 868 and Pack 868.  While the Boy Scouts are circulating and performing their litter control duties, the information booth is manned by Cub Scouts and parents from Pack 868.

The work is (obviously) all business.  This should be evident from Dalton sporting Mardi Gras beads, Nick wearing a plastic fire chief hat, and Gabe growing bunny ears!  But despite the occasional bit of horseplay, the scouts provide a valuable public service and, in return, the show provides a great PR opportunity for the troop.  Pictured (L to R) are Adam, Dalton, Nick, Gabe, and Spencer.
Throughout the day, different teams of Pack 868 Cub Scouts sat at our combined Pack/Troop information table.  Pictured above (L to R) are Kenneth, Dawson, Zackary, and Matthew.  Pack parent Steven Frank worked with the boys for the greater part of the day.
