HIGHWAY RIBBON CUTTING
Troop 868 Home Page Troop 868 in Action
The troop was invited to participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of Conestoga Parkway in Shepherdsville. The road connects Adam Shepherd Parkway to Highway 61 and opens up a large tract of land for commercial development as retail, office, and warehouse space. The new Shepherdsville City Hall will be among the first developments to be completed and occupied.
The Air Force ROTC unit from Bullitt Central High School carried the colors and scouts from Troop 868 then led the assembled crowd of dignitaries and others in pledging allegiance to the American flag. After brief remarks by several speakers, Shepherdsville Mayor Joe Sohm invited everyone present to help hold a large red ribbon across the roadway that he subsequently cut.
Because of the mid-afternoon timing of the event, only a few scouts were able to attend. Still, it was nice for the troop to be recognized as an important community organization and a great opportunity for scouts to see and participate in the kinds of political events that make our form of government function.
